Mass Municipal Madness

From “Massachusetts local governments lack oversight of marijuana, group warns
” (the Cannabist):

A group representing cities and towns across Massachusetts has voted to oppose a proposed ballot question that would legalize the recreational use of marijuana.

Members of the Massachusetts Municipal Association say they are concerned the question would limit the ability of communities to shape the way pot retailers would be allowed to operate in their cities and towns.

My comment there:

The absence of basic market understanding is unbearably staggering and shameful.

When a new lucrative market emerges, the outcome is the same when “public servants” stand righteously aside (instead of slowing everything torturously down with their corrupt favoritism and other “protect the children” methods that ensure obscene market manipulation by law — e.g. the medical industry with outrageously severe monopolistic price fixing for our “free” healthcare).

A lot of people want to understandably benefit from a new popular market, so there will indeed be many dispensaries initially.

However, the vast majority will fail (including relatively quickly), because running a successful business is seriously challenging.

What remains are the winners — a relatively small group of businesses that have earned customers’ loyalty.

Common sense suggests that there will be sound budget-conscious victors (allowing customers to buy inexpensive but reliably safe and enjoyable cannabis products — perhaps even at common supermarkets) and a class of high-quality entrepreneurs dedicated to the best possible cannabis experience.

The idea that any town will be permanently overcome by dispensaries and an ugly dope-craving crowd endangering high society is ridiculous.

Allow free markets to run their course (including prosecuting any business selling a harmful product — i.e. legitimate government interference).

I assure you that I will be buying my cannabis only from a reputable business owner with a genuine passion for the wonderful exploration of the cannabis experience (not some cheap jerk throwing brown bricks into a broken shopping bag, while the sign above the store crashes to the ground amid sickening laughter by the thuggish dopes raping and pillaging their way through formerly nice communities).

And maybe, if actual societal progress is to emerge victorious, our society will finally realize the real societal danger comes ironically from groups such as the Massachusetts Municipal Association — who want the power to determine winners and losers, so their elitist pals always win to the detriment of everyone else.

I'm an honest freak (or reasonably responsibly balanced "misfit", if you prefer) of an entertainer working and resting as my careful contribution to help improve society. Too many people abuse reasoning (e.g. 'partial truth = whole truth' scam), while I exercise reason to explore and express whole truth without any conflict-of-interest.
